Cannot mount external hdd in VeraCrypt on RedHat

Whenever I try to mount my external HDD in VeraCrypt on RedHat I get this error:

mount: /dev/mapper/veracrypt1 is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/mapper/veracrypt1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so.

Hi, docbrowns, and welcome to LQ.

Which versions of VeraCrypt and RedHat are you using?

Did you try dmesg | tail after the error as suggested?

without the needed information there is not much we can do except make GUESSES
uneducated guesses at that !

what version of RHEL ???
also redhat requires a support contract that gives you access to the redhat knowledge base
have you used that ?
have you read the whitepapers on the redhat site ?
( requires login with the credentials you set up at the time you paid for the support contract )

What was used to encrypt the drive ?
is it a full disk or just an encrypted volume on it ?

I have RHEL 7. I have only self-support, since I use the developers version.
I didn't found anything related on the redhat site.
I encrypted the drive using VeraCrypt, full disk encryption. I'm able to mount encrypted internal drive with the same encryption (AES(Twofish(Serpent)))).
Thank you for your quick answer!
