Cannot install lilo bootloader

My setup : primary master : 30gb windoze drive
primary slave : -
secondary master : DVD drive
secondary slave : 9gb linux drive
slackware 9

Did a fresh install, I've tried different locations for the bootloader(MBR, first sector etc). All that happens is a get a screen full of 0000000.
I've also tried using a external bootmanager.
When ever I type lilo i get a warning message about lb32.
I use to also get the 0x82 warning, but that was fixed by adding the disk=/dev/hdd and bios=0x82.
At the moment I have to boot in to linux using the slackware CD.

Whats happening please.
