***IMPORTANT EDIT: sorry for the post title, i was completely wrong. I AM NOT CONNECTED TO THE VPN AT ALL.
Hi, i'm new to linux and i have installed network-manager-kde and network-manager-pptp. I created two connections, a wired connection and a vpn connection. Neither did work at first but i uninstalled Wicd network manager and cleared interfaces file and then the wired connection started working. But my vpn connection still does'nt work.

I think that this might be related to the MTU setting of 1500 on the ethernet interface there.

Try setting the MTU manually to confirm this:
Code:
sudo ifconfig eth0 MTU 800
After executing that line, attempt to connect with NetworkManager.

If that's it, and you'll tell me what distribution this is, I can help you make that setting take effect at boot time.
