Cannot delete samba shared files from win7 if they contain uppercase letters

Hi All,

I am running samba version 4.0.10. Both Samba and OS are custom built. If I create files with uppercase characters in shared folder, I cannot delete it from windows. I have case sensitive set to yes in the global section of smb.conf. I can delete files having only lower case characters in their names from windows machine, indicating that my access permissions have no problem. I am using a windows 7 machine. When I try to delete, I get an error to the effect that the file could not be found. Another observation is, if I make two files "A" & "a", when I delete "A", "a" is getting deleted.

Kindly provide me any information that you think might be helpful. If anyone has 4.0.10 smbd running, please let me know if you are facing this issue.

Thanks & Regards,
Sarin

Hi,

samba has various configuration options related to this. See the "Name mangling" section of the smb.conf man page.

https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man...mb.conf.5.html

Most important I think is that the "case sensitive" option is set to yes. Can you check your configuration?
