Can you install multiple WM/DE's on a single install?

I just recently decided to dedicate an older computer to hosting Opera Unite and its multitude of services, and I decided to use Arch, but had problems, so, I resorted to Mint, resolving to try Arch when the computer itself was stable.

As you know, Mint from the site comes with Gnome, which is rather hard on 468MB of RAM, and 32MB of VRAM. I want to install either XFCE, or fluxbox, whichever this forum thinks would give better speeds while still being usable to a non-expert.

I want to know if I can install one of these WM/DE's, and if I can, how to do it.

Greatly appreciated.

both should be in the package manager. I personally like xfce better, but both are very lightweight desktop environments
