LOL Thanks. I have such blind spots sometimes I scare myself. And gee, everything went swimmingly installing the 64 bit Pixeluvo into my 64 bit computer! (Imagine that!) And yeah, my other computer (at work) is definitely 64 bit but this home computer is a 12 or 13 year old Dell (Optiplex GX520) that I was SURE was so old that it had to be 32 bit. Especially since I had some trouble playing .mp4 files on it. I got it from work. It crashed on someone and they were going to throw it out. I didn't know it was that old and so I took it and put Xubuntu on it. I also put in a new hard drive and a new CD/DVD tray. (I realized doing those things that it was pretty old though because I needed adpaters to hook up the hard drive and tray.) So yeah, I was figuring this thing was ancient and I'd wasted the money upgrading it. Now I'm kind of more hopeful about it. Ha ha.
So yeah, great, did the purge. Installed the trial version with gdebi and then all I had to do was enter a license key to get the full version.
Sorry for being do dumb (LOL). (Does LQ have a Remedial forum?) But I really do appreciate you not giving up on this. (I was on the verge of doing so myself.) Thanks!
Seriously, don't worry about it. My help isn't purely altruistic anyway - I learn while I'm helping folk out, and the info you provide and answers you give while trying to resolve a problem are really good. It's a pleasure helping you out.
So are you going to get out the Xubuntu 64-bit install media now that you know your machine is fancier than you thought? Or do you reckon that it would take you too long to reinstall your system?

Ha ha. Yes, now that I know I have a powerhouse computer on my hands I should whip it into shape! As for the media thing I've done nothing (in other words I did not try to install 32-bit anything besides the Pixeluvo). What I have trouble with is .mp4 files playing out of sync and jerky, and on the Firefox browser when I go to play videos sometimes I get a error message. Do you think reinstalling would solve those issues?
I have asked about it before and got all kinds of answers centering around getting a new video card. I don't do much with that home computer (I'm usually pretty brain-dead by the time I get home and get on it) regarding video. I don't know if a re-install would even be worth it.

Have you posted about the .mp4 problem on here? If not, you should start a new thread on it (include details of your video card). You never know...
I don't know why I made that comment about reinstallation. Can I use the brain-dead excuse too? If the operating system is already 64-bit then all is good.

You can use the "brain-sleep" or "brain-nap" excuses but "brain-dead" is too extreme for you.
I looked over my old threads on the video issue (I didn't realize I had two) and will go over them again. If it seems worth a go, I'll open a new thread. Thanks!!
