can't uninstall package

Hi all!
The problem is - Yum and the "add/remove software" utility say that the package was sucsessfully uninstalled, but when I search for installed packages, both Yum and "add/remove" thing show that this package is installed, despite that I have removed it a second ago! And I can try uninstalling it thousands times, it does not vanish.

when I try rpm, it says
[root@localhost ~]# rpm -e CERNLIB
/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.82925: line 3: [: too many arguments
/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.82925: line 4: [: too many arguments
error: %preun(CERNLIB-2005-0.slc4.i386) scriptlet failed, exit status 2

the rpm was taken from here:
http://linuxsoft.cern.ch/cern/slc4X/...05-0.slc4.html
I'm using Scientific Linux 5.1, it is something similar to rhel5 I guess.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Try the --nopreun option and see what happens:

rpm --nopreun -e CERNLIB
