Can't run RealPlayer 10

Hi, i am running slackware 10.1, fluxbox, Xorg, kernel=standard with slack
10.0 and i have installed the bin version of realplayer 10.

When i run the command "realplay" from the run menu, or the realplayer menu
item, it does not lauch. When i look at my processes, realplay + a few
realplay.bin's are there. There is no CPU usage by them. And after 5 minutes
nothing else happened either.

I then tried from konsole:

realplay - the command was executed but nothing happened, however it didn't
return to the prompt so the process was still running, but with no cpu or disk
activity. ctl+c

realplay -n : the same thing happened, ctl+c

realplay - h: displayed the help file, so the bin file IS working.

i dont understand why nothing happens! Getting an error is one thing, but
getting no errors in an erronus situation is more frustrating!

Question /&%/&%/&% realplayer!

I used to have a similar problem.

When you run the bin realplayer install, it installs to a directory inside your home directory in the first place. It then makes some symlinks to make all the stuff in there executable.

The problem is that this "install" is very dependent on the first particular configuration of you system ¿solution? Take a look on the scripts inside your $home/realplay dir, change whatever you need, take a look on the symlinks and change/customize whatever you need, and make a package of you own. Install it and everything will be ok.

There is no need for changing any binary (everything works just fine). The problem are the scripts, with a bit of tweaking everything works

Good luck!
