Can't log-in on LM 18.3X

I'm running LM 18.3X live. After doing some upgrades, I was suddenly required to "log-in" Ahmmm...I never set up a log-in/password when I originally 'opened" 18.3, so now, I don't have a log-in/password and can't open 18.3x. Anyway around this? AND...could anyone explain why it took so long to run those upgrades (1hr-20 mins+)

You can either try entering a blank password, and if that doesn't work, you'll have to change the password. To change the password you must boot from the install disk, and choose from the submenus, 'rescue'. You'll be able to open a chroot shell to your system.

From the prompt type 'bash'. That will give you a decent shell. Then type

Code:

$ passwd user_name

and change the password for your user. then type 'exit'.
