Can't edit tags for mp3 files

Using Amarok Version 2.3.1

I downloaded some mp3 files and am trying to edit the tags with Amarok. The first files I can edit. The second set of files I used to be able to edit, but now can't, and I also can't edit the 3rd set. The only difference that I can for the files I can't edit is that they are v1. Is there anything else that could be the problem and how can I get Amarok to edit these files, or do I need to use another program?

I checked permissions on the files and they are all the same. The files that I can't edit are greyed out.

Thanks

1st set of files:

./cgc20111211.mp3: Audio file with ID3 version 2.4.0, contains: MPEG ADTS, layer III, v2, 32 kbps, 22.05 kHz, Monaural
./cgc20111211_sundaySchool.mp3: Audio file with ID3 version 2.3.0, contains: MPEG ADTS, layer III, v2, 32 kbps, 22.05 kHz, Monaural

2nd set of files:

./lesson2-3.mp3: Audio file with ID3 version 2.4.0, contains: MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz, JntStereo

3rd set of files:
./new-direction-in-pooh-studies.mp3: Audio file with ID3 version 2.3.0, contains: MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz, JntStereo

If you start Amarok from the terminal, it will print out debug messages. This may indicate the reason amarok failed to edit the tags.
There is a program called EasyTag which might work. Another one exists on KDE, but I don't remember its name offhand.

I am able to edit it now. I don't know what happened except I opened it in debug mode:
Code:
amarok --debug ./new-direction-in-pooh-studies.mp3
I didn't understand what the debug info, but I guess that doesn't matter now. I think Amarok must have started with a problem the last time I opened it.

Thanks for help.

A friend has experienced problems with Amarok not writing tags also, it just updated the contents of its database.
Personally I would recommend using EasyTAG to change your tags to be certain it has worked. EasyTAG also allows the inclusion of album art in the files, which can be good.
