Burning YouTube videos to DVD

I am not familiar with video formats. I want to save some YouTube videos on my computer and burn them to a DVD. Which are the formats that are good to download and how would I convert them so that I can burn to a DVD?

I though I would use Youtube-dl to download.

Thanks
