burn programs

I'm looking for a tool to burn files on a cd. Or is this possible without a special program?

There are quite a few tools for linux - search through your package management tool depending on your distro and install one. K3b is a fairly common + widely used app. You can also do it direct from the command line using the cdrecord tool, however is a little more fiddly that using a GUI.

I've used K3B on KDE and GnomeBaker on Gnome for fast burns.

For burns I like to fully control, I stick to command line. But that's just my preference.

I've downloaded k3b and it works fine. I can't believe it's free and open source!!!
