Question Building a Mandrake 8.1 machine

I am looking to bulld a Linux machine with Manrake 8.1. I have parts from other machines that work with it. I am looking for suggestions for a pentium 4 or athlon motherboard that uses PC133 memory.

Thanks for any help

I've got duron, so it'll be similar to athlon. It's VIA motherboard with sound inside (don't remember the type). But it looks all similar VIAs will work correctly. The othere elements will be rather Ok. Just remember about hardware modem (not winmodem).

You can pick up a cheap duron processor and mobo.

Duron 1,000 = $39
Gigabyte reburbished KT266a mobo = $47
256MB PC2100 = $82

then you can probably reuse your other parts.

The Abit range of Athlon boards seem to work well...well, mine does (Abit KT7a non-RAID).

The KT266A's work very well too. Thats why i recommend them. The KT333 based boards will most likly work awesome too but its too soon to tell.

The Shuttle AI61 mobo combo. AMD 900 Mhz Athlom w/fan $89.99 (I think) That is my mobo, never a problem. Had many distros on it.
