broken audio/video after installing xcompmgr(Compositing)

Hello,

Im running Lubuntu 11.10 and have just installed Xcompmgr for compositing. now although the compositing works, the audio and video plays with cluttering of 2 secs. It seems irritating. BTW, I tried to remove the Xcompmgr too. That didnot remove the dependencies it installed alongwith it. Please suggestions or I will have to reinstall the OS again. Some times I feel that the compiz also created some problems with the audio and video playback during my previous install). the Framerates also dropped drastically( glxgears) What should I do now??

Deepak

xcompmgr is old and does only software compositing, tearing and high cpu usage are normal in its case.
You have an old computer with and/or weak cpu probably. What video card do you use?

This is on Debian (first line is the command used):

Code:
aptitude show xcompmgr
Package: xcompmgr
New: yes
State: not installed
Version: 1.1.5-1
Priority: optional
Section: x11
Maintainer: Gustavo Franco <stratus@debian.org>
Uncompressed Size: 86.0 k
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.0), libx11-6 (>= 0), libxcomposite1 (>= 1:0.3-1),
         libxdamage1 (>= 1:1.1), libxfixes3 (>= 1:4.0.1), libxrender1
Description: X composition manager
 xcompmgr is the standard composition manager for the X Composite extension,
 which allows clients to modify what is drawn to the screen before it happens.
 This composition manager implements shadows, fading, proper translucency, and
 more.
You should execute the command on your computer in a terminal and look at the depends section (ubuntu might have different package names). DO NOT TRY to remove libc6, libx11-6, the rest can go ONLY IF they dont drag anything else with them. Try removing separately.
