brasero thinks my combo drive is only a dvd burner

I compiled an audio CD in Brasero and it spits out my blank CD-R and tells me to insert a blank CD-R. At the burn dialog it says to have a blank DVD in the drive. I think it's confused as to what my drive can do.

It's been awhile since I created a CD so I don't doubt I have something misconfigured at the system level...

'cdrdao scanbus' reports this:
ATA:1,0,0 _NEC , DVD_RW ND-3540A , 1.01

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Might be a bug in brasero or with the CD/DVD drive's BIOS. Do a quick check of the drive burning capabilities by typing: cdrecord -prcap

Check for updates for brasero and with the drive manufacturer for a firmware updated.

Use k3b instead (yes this is a KDE based application but can and is used with Gnome by many.
