Boot CD

I want to use a Linux Boot CD on an old pc as an sNES emulator. I would want the bare minimum of applications on the cd, so I could have the maximum amount of games available. Does anyone know anything like this? Or any reading material that would help me?

knoppix has a remastering guide on it, it'd be easiest just to modify that slightly. don't worry about having too many apps on it, if you don't load KDE, it won't use up memory...

i think fluxbox rocks. afaik zsnes can run outside of X though, so you mightn't need any of that. also why not chuck mame on to it as well?

Mame would be nice. I would have to do it on another cd. Ive got like 600mb of snes games. Was thinking they would make nice gift/intro to linux cds.

Would I have the room? I have a system recovery linux cd that only takes 115mb.

well hack a load of stuff off of knoppix and you should have plenty of space. it's nice to keep a decent framework there if you can. and either way knoppix holds about 2gb of compressed software on the CD .

maybe DSL would be a nicer way to go though after all though... that includes a real low resource build of X, only on framebuffer i think.

Just a pure matter of taste. KDE ,however, seems exceedingly heavy. Something lighter would be recommended. Even Gnome would be a better choise
