Blackberry enterprise server

Has anyone got some information on if you could run a BES server on linux platform? The purpose obviously is to redirect the mail to the Blackberry's. The email is Lotus notes, we also have a Lotus domino server setup. I was just wondering if anyone has done this or if it would be a disadvantage or not.
Also we have BES setup now on a Lotus domino server as is does anyone know if we can set it up seperatly and have it monitor the Domino server for new mail. And if so what would the advantage be of having the BES server on a seperate box than Domino. Well the Domino its connected to now is not the main Email server its main purpose is to just send mail to blackberry servers
