Bizzare samba / network problem, transfers run extremely slow unless 2+ are going
Hey Guys,
I have had a problem for a while now on my Centos 5 Server, i first noticed it with samba, but it seems to be (sort of) global to all protocols, basically my network speeds when doing anything run very slow (fluctuating between 333kb and 1mbps for samba, sitting on a flat 400kbps-1mbps for scp etc) when they should run much faster (on a gig network with high end network gear)
I also run NFS off the box, and it seems to be (mostly) unaffected, running at fairly reasonable speeds, which leads me to think software not hardware...
I had recently added another network card, and was hoping this was the issue, but i have since removed it, and it still runs badly. I think the problem had been there before that card was installed
The network card in the box is a netgear card, with a Realtek 8111/8168B gigabit eth (PCI express reported, card is onboard mainboard)
Anybody have any ideas at all? I am able to do debugs on network traffic via the switch / router if needed, other than getting help here all i have left is to try a format...
EDIT: Can do it through wireshark too if somebody can explain how to, i have never done it before..
