Hello world,
As a french linux user, i find useful to be able to type accent in the different apps I use.
But i belong to that kind of people that really apreciate keeping their soft in english.
I'm using graphical apps such as xchat, psi and other mozilla stuffs, and they don't make any problem, there is just one rebel : gnome-terminal
Using "startx" to launch X, I put some export LC_ALL=fr_FR@euro in my ~/.xinitrc script, but when I do that, but then I have some of my applications that are launched in french, (and sometimes there's a mix of english/french
), and gnome-terminal works perfectly. To keep the lang in english I run apps this way : "LC_ALL=C application_name". (is it the good variable to set ?)
But as a lazy user, I decided to comment the export line in my ~/.xinitrc, all my applications are in english, even gnome-terminal, but this one doesn't accept any accent anymore.
I made some tests, like launching an aterm from a gnome-terminal where the locales were set to "C", the resulting aterm correctly accepted accents, and its locale were also set to C.
Does anyone have a tip to get accents in gnome-terminal ?
I think that gnome-terminal use a tool called "vte", do I have to set some stuffs about vte ?
Thanks in advance.
