bestcrypt 1.0 beta

I'm using slack8 and can't install this program. I do a 'make' and then 'make install' but get:

install etc/bcrypt ///etc/rc.d//init.d/
install: cannot stat `///etc/rc.d//init.d/': Not a directory
make: *** [install] Error 1

which is annoying. I had this problem before but can't remember how i got around it.

If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it.

ps - I think last time there was a problem making the device files using mknod. If anyone has seen my problems, please help!

Have a look in /etc/rc.d for /init.d and if it's not there then create it and try again (and make sure you are doing "make install" as root).
PS; we have a slackware forum in the distro section

Cheers Aussie! All sorted.

Had to create:
/etc/init.d/
/etc/rc0.d/
/etc/rc1.d/
/etc/rc2.d/
/etc/rc3.d/
/etc/rc4.d/
/etc/rc5.d/
/etc/rc6.d/

then all was fine.

I know about the Slackware forum but thought it was a general software issue, although should've remembered this didn't happen using RedHat (a long time ago, before I started on Slack in 2001!)

Cool, glad you got it sorted
