I love GAIM, and use it a lot, but AOL makes a version of AIM for Linux!
I don't know about the other providers, especially Microsoft, considering that they want to promote their own platform.

The Best IM for Linux, in my opinion is ... Trillian running with Crossover !

Sorry guys but no Linux IM gave me 100% of happiness.

I don't know what it was, but I couldn't get a working configuration of kopete. Nothing I did made it happy. Eventually I gave up in frustration, downloaded Gaim, and had my AIM account that seemed to ellude kopete up and running in about 3 minutes (installation and setup). And that settled it for me.

If IM is important and you're thinking about Mac, the native iChat is wonderful. Adapts instantly to your previous AIM if you have one, buddy list and all!

Trillian with an emulator is ok. But if you want native binaries, Kopete rules. I don't see why the devotion to gAIM...

Edit: You wouldn't happen to be the King Nothing that got banned for flaming from http://forums.heavengames.com do you?
