beagle won't inded my music files!

Is there a reason why beagle won't index my OGG and MP3 files? They are in directories by artist and album under a directory called music. All of the directories are 775 and it DOES inded the .m3u files in the Music directory. I'm not just talking about that it won't read the metadata in the files - it won't even find the files themselves!

Any help would be greatly appreaciated!

If it matters, all the files used to be on my removable drive before I moved them, wholesale to my home directory.

Uh-huh. This DOES indeed work, here at least. However, if beagle has seen these before, in a different location, that might be an issue. To get a freash start, stop beagle, then rm -rf from your home directory all of .beagle. Restart him, and let's see what happens. In the search he should respond to things like .mp3 (finds them all) artist:clapton (finds Eric's stuff) album:Mimi (finds Mariah Carey's album)

that seems to have done it. I guess whenever I move a file from now on, I need to make sure that beagle is on so that it will catch the inotify. I mean, if it doesn't detect files being moved, then it's utility is greatly diminished. Thanks for the help.

I think I see what the problem is. For some reason it refuses to index my OGG files!

Yes, the idea of beagle is for it to be active at all times. Things done "behind it's back", will not be indexed. I don't know why it's failing on your .ogg, it does find mine, although I have very few oggs. I can put in .ogg and up they come. Are you on 2.7?
