Bandwidth monitoring apps?

Hi guys.
I'm looking for an application (if any) that enables me to monitor my internet up-/download bandwidth usage on per-application-basis, so I basically can see how much for instance my Vsftpd session is using in realtime along side, I don't know, rtorrent or something - all in one an same monitoring application. I would prefer having a terminal based app for this purpose.

All over the place there seem to be many applications that only monitor the entire bandwidth, not per process / application.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

You won't be able to monitor on application level, as your network layer 3 doesn't have the faintest idea from which application the packets are.

If you use jnettop you can filter on host and port and most other filters that tcpdump provides, but that is about it.
