Bad performance with remote XServer connections...
Hi everybody,
I've got problems with performance when connecting to my Slackware server using Cygwin/X on my (win*beep*s) laptop. Everything works fine until I start KDE on the server-side (the linux box). After starting KDE I can use the system for at most one minute before it becomes VERY slow with reaction times between 30 and 90 seconds.
My first thought was that this was a Cygwin/X problem. The Cygwin Xserver port is known to have performance issues. But then I tried to connect to a machine at the university (also running KDE) and everything worked out fine. These results are despite the fact my linux box is connected with a 100Mbit (crossed TP) connection and the university server is on the other side of my (max) 2Mbit ISP connection.
(I have compiled my kernel with interrupt timer frequency 100Hz. I really don't see how this could cause this behavior, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. I should probably also say that twm works without any problems).
Anyone got any idea what I might be doing wrong?
