I am a newbie with HylaFax. I am trying to set it up too. But, I got passed this stage. Recommend (taken from notes I have source?:
1. stop/kill/exit HylaFax to release the modem.
2. run lsusb to find modem
3. if it is found then - run lsmod
4. It is said that PCI modems are a pain in the b--- wrt Hylafax, most recommend a serial modem. There are compatibility lists for Hylafax out there.
