automatic Numlock

I want to set up my computer so that the num lock is on automagically.

i tried using "xset led" and i couldn't get anything other then the scroll lock.
i tried using "setleds" but that didn't seem to work for x, only the console.

xset led 3 - sets the scroll lock

is there a file that i can configure the numlock to go on with xset led 2
