Autoconf not finding configuration script

Hi all,
I just downloaded a plugin to use my g15 lcd with the XMMS media player. I downloaded the source and attempted to run ./configure only to get the error message ./configure: No such file or directory found. I did a little searching and found it needs a configure.in, that file is located in the source folder. I have autoconf installed. I also saw to try running autoconf then automake. Autoconf returns some errors about unknown macros as does automake. The configure file is good as it has installed on other my ubuntu machine. I am attempting to install this on a fully updated Fedora 8 64bit install.
