ati problem on suse 10 box various different results glx gears, glxinfo, game fps
Hi,
I have tried installing the prop~ ati linux driver.
The first time I downloaded the rpm changed to sux then issued command sh ./ati~.i386.run -get supported
this gave me the list I then ran sh. /ati~.i386.run buildpkg suse~1032
then switched to init 3
root
rpm -Uhv fglrx~
installed yeh!!
glxgears give 4000+ fps (gears spin fast)
have to go into fglrxconfig to get somethings right and to get the control panel in kmenu.
Month later glxinfo says
direct rendering = no
so try the sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx -b /usr/share/doc/packages/fglrx/sax2-profile which I did in step before but forgot to mention.
Still shows mesa. Damn
redownload package from ati, but must be different cause now an attachment that give you a gui install.
Try to do a distro specific install the screen to oush accept is too long and can not be seen anyway on my screen. so just do normal install.
Now I get only 1000+change fps and gears move slow, but go into gl 117 and got 120 fps. and now reports ati instead of mesa.
Now I have two config menus in kmenu, but they are quite different from each other.
What is the default mouse directory and how do you adjust it?
how do i uninstall the last ati driver?
How can I do a distro specific install?
How can I do a clean gpu driver install without wiping?
How can I make sure everything is set up right?
gigabyte mainboard 865matx
ati 9600se gpu
compaq v55 monitor
jvc tv display svideo
logitech mx700 cordless mouse
Should I use aptgart
and is there a site which gives you a rundown of all things to enable in fglrxconfig
Tia
