ATI Driver and Modelines

I have a ATI Radeon RV370 and I am having trouble getting the closed source ATI driver to recognise my modelines. From google I have read that putting Options "IgnoreEDID" "on" might help, but when I try I get the following message in the Xorg log:

(WW) fglrx(0): Option "IgnoreEDID" is not used

And of course the custom modelines don't appear in the output.

Also, I'm unable to use xvidtune to fiddle with the modes. When you hit apply, it just says that the mode in not supported by this device.

Does anyone have any ideas?
