at a loss with MPlayer!?!?!?!?

ok i have mplayer installed and apparently working right. video streams play from websites in galeon and the very same clips play with out issue from the local hard drive when downloaded and opened with the "open with" thingy when told to and told to remember the app that opened it all i have to do is doubble click on them and away they go.

BUT, when trying to use gmplayer i get this in the console:

[root@vegeta root]# gmplayer
Using GNU internationalization
Original domain: messages
Original dirname: /usr/share/locale
Current domain: mplayer
Current dirname: /usr/local/share/locale

MPlayer 0.90rc5-3.2.2 (C) 2000-2003 Arpad Gereoffy (see DOCS)

CPU: Advanced Micro Devices Athlon TB Thunderbird (Family: 6, Stepping: 2)
Detected cache-line size is 64 bytes
CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 1 3DNow2: 1 SSE: 0 SSE2: 0
Compiled for x86 CPU with extensions: MMX MMX2 3DNow 3DNowEx

Reading config file /root/.mplayer/config
[cfg] read config file: /root/.mplayer/gui.conf
Reading config file /root/.mplayer/gui.conf: No such file or directory
vo: X11 running at 1024x768 with depth 24 and 32 bpp (":0.0" => local display)
Reading /root/.mplayer/codecs.conf: 50 audio & 136 video codecs
Font /root/.mplayer/font/font.desc loaded successfully! (200 chars)
Using Linux hardware RTC timing (1024Hz).
Can't open input config file /root/.mplayer/input.conf : No such file or directory
Can't open input config file /usr/local/etc/mplayer/input.conf : No such file or directory
Falling back on default (hardcoded) input config
SKIN dir 1: '/root/.mplayer/Skin'
SKIN dir 2: '/usr/local/share/mplayer/Skin'

and then nothing happens, useing the system monitor shows the prossess goes to sleep. but if i close the console window i get the usual mplayer crashed yada yada messages.

im at a loss as to how to get the gui workin right. yea yea i know just use the command line but im to lazy to learn all the options and i like the eye candy, it helps sell systems that have linux on them to windows freaks : P

any ideas?

Didn't you read the installation guide? It doesn't look like it, if you did, go re-read it. It clearly tells you what to do.

If you are still at a loss, post again I suppose.

You wil need to grab the Default skin from mplayers website and place that in your /usr/local/share/mplayer/Skin directory (more info on that can be found with a search, but if you have problems feel free to post em up). After you install the Default Skin you can then choose different skins from there, from within the gui.

Cool

nevermind the last ,wasnt reading the output right lol,

how silly i feel for nameing the config file wrong and expecting it to werk! lol. bad case of RTFM on my part

works great now that i re-named the config file "config" like it was to begin with.

but thanx for the rapid response as always
