apt not working - HELP
i just installed ubuntu server 12.04 to be used as a headless vbox server. i set up the network config with the correct gateway, mask, and static ip. am using google 8.8.8.8 as the dns. my issue is apt-get is acting like it can't find anything similar to if you weren't connected to the internet. apt-get update doesn't seem to work either. update doesn't say "fail" but it doesn't update either and the last line says "E: GPG error: http://security.ubuntu.com precise-security Release: the following signatures were invalid: NODATA 1 NODATA 2"
also update doesn't even list the following as even atempted to get "deb http://virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian precise contrib" which i added to sources.list
i verified internet access by pinging google and yahoo with success.
any help please, thanks

Solved
googling that for 5 seconds before i even posted this gave me that result, yes, but it didn't work so i started this thread. you don't need to sound like a dick when you answer a post, especially since you just ASSumed i didn't do that first. if you read i pointed out it won't update any repo not just the one with the key, which was oracles download site. anyway i solved the problem. i was doing this for my school and it turns out they use a barracuda web filter and since that requires a gui log in from a browser it had no way to prompt me to log in so apt just failed like it had no internet connection. it was confusing because ping worked but in hindsite that is because barracuda doesn't block ping or require login for it. why it let "wget" through i don't know except it may be a security hole. this server was going in the DMZ anyway. i was just trying to set it up first from the sandox network because i am not an employee and am not permitted access to the server room even though i'm in the work study program, they ran an ethernet cable down to the lab right from the DMZ for me today and it worked fine. barracuda web filter was the issue
the nodata thing btw was because it couldn't contact oracle to verify key because of above reason. barracuda.
***how i figured this out was by booting a live mint cd i had with me to see if apt worked on that so i could see if it was an OS or network problem. when i first configured the ethernet settings it prompted me via firefox for a barracuda login. obviously i realized this dialogue box can't open on a command line only ubuntu server machine like i was using so i figured it must be the reason for apt's failure. i requested a public ip with a 1:1 NAT, and a cable coming from the DMZ where it is going anyway. they obliged, and it worked.
