Apache subdirectory problems

Hi everyone,
I have recently set up my own webserver after having an account with a hosting company for a number of years. I'm just having a slight problem with apache and hoping you wonderful people could shed some light.

Here's the set up, the server is debian 3.0 woody. The site has numerous subdomains and on the local network typing in 192.168.0.6/pix will auto direct to the index.shtml file within the pix subdirectory.

However, when accessed from the internet: site.com/pix gives a message:
Quote:
the connection was refused when attempting to contact 127.0.0.1
I have looked through my httpd.conf trying to see if I needed to specify the directory as having an index file but could find nothing. The information I have googled is lacking.

Thanks in advance,
Shane

First, check your router, making sure the proper ports [port 80] are forwarded from your external IP to the internal one [192.168.0.6].

Also, check any fire wall settings in 192.168.0.6 that may be blocking traffic.

If both of thsoe check out:

Are there any BindAddress, or Listen directives in your config. If so, what are they?

Hi,
My router is forwarding port 80 http to 192.168.0.6, viewing the website from the internet works fine, you just need to specify the full path for non top level access. (So the main page of the site can be accessed by site.com instead of site.com/index.html). However a subdirectory that has an index must be specified as site.com/subfolder/index.html. This problem only exists viewing the site from the net, locally the subdirectory index is understood (hence 192.168.0.6/subdirectory goes to its index.html file). I checked for BindAddress in my httpd.conf and that section is commented out.
