Apache, PHP and Mysql - persistent connections

Hi There

I've had a breakdown with a server - and then loads of problems reestablishing it.

I've experienced some proxy problems - making proxying to other servers extremely slow. A query usually taking 0-2 seconds is taking around 15 seconds. Then I tried reinstalling the Apache server which gave me another problem - some pages were not showing. I tried an older version of Apache with the same result. I pinned the problem down to mysql_pconnect which works without apache php myscript.php - now I'm running without persistent connections but I would like to reestablish the persistent connections for better performance.

I'm running httpd-2.0.47 (will be upgraded to httpd-2.0.50 when problems are eliminated), php-4.3.8 and mysql-client 4.....something.

Anyone got an idea what to do?

Thanks in advance

Mads Jakob
