Apache config file to add header and footer

Is there a way to, from the apache config file, specify a header and/or footer that would be used in every page in a virtual site?

thanks

There is not. You may want to consider using PHP. It's a good practive to get into using a skeleton page when making webpages that include the header and footers.

yes, i can do it in php and i know how......but i'm trying to do somthing simular to tripod where i could insert an ad at the top (or botom) of every page without acctually editing the page. Does anyone know how all those free hosts out there do it? (the company i work for,Bluestealth Web Hosting, is considering offering free hosting as a promotional item)
