i have linux RedHat 7.2 kernel 2.4.7. i had a rpm version of apache
1.3.20 , and i was working on it just fine. i unistalled it recently to
upgrade to apache 1.3.22. i got a zip version from apache.org, and
tryed to install it....
when i gave it the configure command....
[root@localhost apache_1.3.22]# ./configure
bash: ./configure: bad interpreter: Permission denied
[root@localhost apache_1.3.22]# ./configure --prefix=/etc/httpd
bash: ./configure: bad interpreter: Permission denied
so i changed the premissions to make it executable, but i got....
[root@localhost apache_1.3.22]# ./configure
bash: ./configure: bad interpreter: No such file or directory
[root@localhost apache_1.3.22]# ./configure --prefix=/etc/httpd
bash: ./configure: bad interpreter: No such file or directory
[root@localhost apache_1.3.22]#
the /etc/httpd is where i install apache....
i cant figure out what is wrong, can any one help, or tell me where to
Did you first unpack the zipped file with the tar command ?
Also, do you have gcc installed so you can install source packages ? Try looking at our tar glossary term, gives an idea on how to install those types of files.
yes, i unziped the file with the tar command. and yes , i have gcc. i didnt understand what should i look for in the link you gave me , i just followed the instructions in the INSTALL file that came with apache
thanks
