..on a newer distro? I'm only a 10 month old linux user. Can anyone who got this compiled post what they had to do? I'm lost. So is doublefailure who posted over on slackware.

Submodule gdkimlib is needed to build gnome but it appears
it's misdetected or not selected for compilation.
Available modules: gtk gtkhtml gtkglarea gdkimlib gdkpixbuf gtkxmhtml gnome gnomeprint glade applets.
You can disable the inclusion of a module using --without-pkgname.
If a package is misdetected and you still want it to compile
use --with-pkgname-force.
To disable autodetection of modules use --without-guessing.

Thanks for the tip. So far I've spent about 2 hours googling around and search filelists on slack ftp servers. The closest I've gotten to an answer is some poeple say they think it's not a part of gnome 2.x. So anyways...to GTK-PERL0.7008, I've looked and I've searched, I even complained. But I guess in the end you just aren't maintained. suxors
holy crap i'm getting ocd abou this. it's 4:30 am and i'm still trying. imlib is installed now. From http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/imlib/1.9/
but gnome-config is dead. As far as I can tell, gnome-config is gone as of Gnome2 and replaced by gnome-gconf? I think. Does anyone have a gnome-config script they could post here? So that maybe I could piece one together to get this thing going?
I tryied to get that working to and found that gtkerl wasn't written for GNome2 so you have to install all the 1.4 ibs and then it should work even though I gave up and am now installing Gentoo just for the fun of it .....
