Aministrator has cancelled your account????

i just got a message that the administrator has cancelled my account at the log in screen. this has forced me to reinstall Linux RedHat 9. Does anybody know why this happened. I didn't make any changes and as far as i knew i was set up as the administrator.

I was asked to register the account but couldnt because i have now way to get online, could that be the issue?

I am not sure if this is what happened, but I think when you installed RH9 there was a time limit on the use of that account. That happened to me awhile ago and I just now remembered.
In a terminal window type: man chage
Yow will want to set the -E switch to a later date. The E- switch sets the date on which the user account will expire. Also check the other switches, because it might make you change your password after so much time. To see your settings, type:
su -
password
chage -l (username) without the () and that is an ell not a one
Hope this helps.

I really don't see why you reinstalled Linux because of that, because it would be much easier to delete the user and add a new one as root. And what's this admin thing about? Does Redhat make some weird admin group or something? I try to stay away from emulating Windows, which is why my more powerful group that controls the programs I install in /home/programs and stuff like that is called the elites.
