it seems to be working but am getting 2fps and its using 98% of the cpu power and memory :X

Hi,

glad you got X running. What are you running that gives you 2fps? glxgears perhaps?

Anyway with that performance will not be able to run xbmc which requires hardware graphics acceleration. So, we first need to find out what video chipset you have. You can do that with the following command:

lspci | grep -i vga
Please run that and post the output here.

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV620 LE [Radeon HD 3450]
06:02.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc ES1000 (rev 02)
oh edit = I got 2fps as soon as I loaded xbmc
