I have the following Tv applications installed on my slackware 12: kdetv, tvtime, xdtv.

starting kdetv from GUI opens with the following error
"Unable to grab video.
Video display is not possible with the current plugin configuration. Try
playing with the configuration options of the V4L2 plugin."
switching between Tv tuners uder video brings the same error.
starting kdetv on the command line brings:
ALSA lib control.c:909
snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL
kdetv: WARNING: **************** PluginFactory: Error loading library kdetv_telex*****************
kdetv: WARNING: Error: libzvbi.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
