agpgart and via_agp

Simple question here. When I modprobe via_agp, agpgart loads automatically also. Is there any way to change this, or am I stuck with agpgart unless I recompile the kernel? I am asking because I want to use the NvAGP and see if:

cat /proc/drivers/nvidia/agp/status
Status: Disabled

will change to:
Status: Enabled or something useful

/sbin/modprobe agpgart

is the above line commented or un-commented in your
/etc/rc.d/rc.modules??

you can use the line below in your /etc/X11/XF86config and it will override the agpgart setting........
Code:
Option "NvAgp" "1"
