Familiar with Visual Basic 6? I am not interested in creating the greatest app ever. More typically I need a quick interface into something or a quick answer to a nagging problem.
Looking for a graphic program that is an interpreter, that doesn't require tons of code to generate a label. Quick and dirty. Is there such a language that I can use in Linux, Freebsd or such? Doesn't need to be basic, just using vb as an example of what I'm after.
VB6 has an ide which allows me to drag and drop labels, textboxes, pull downs, whatever, into an area that represents my screen. These are setup with a useable default set of conditions, modifiable if needed. In code, at the simplest level, you reference and fill in whatever items need to be tweaked and your running. Since it is an interpreter I can run program a line at a time, debugging is supplied. Debugging allows a view of variables as they are determined.
Is there an available linux app that'll do the same sort of thing? I don't need the Basic language, I'd like the integration of gui, code and debug.
You may have surmised, I am hardware, not a coder. Hat's off to the coders, btw.

Took a very quick look at both Glade and QT Designer. On first pass both seem to be what I'm looking for. Now to give both a try and see how they feel. Thanks all for the input, appreciate it.
