Hi,

I use Opera 7.54. I get the following error when I try to run opera from the terminal:

Opera continues to work, but the adobe reader 7 plugin is not recognized. Some one please tell me how to fix this problem.

P.S: Btw, if you didn't know, Adobe's FTP site has v7 Reader for linux available as tar.gz and rpm. Not yet officially released though.

I can't exactly help you except to say that it works fine for me on 8.0beta3.

Have you looked at the tools-->preferences-->plugins section to see if the plugin is listed there?

I believe acrobat 7 is still in beta. I've encountered one very annoying problem with it.

When you open a .pdf and as you scroll down through the document using your arrow keys and read, then move on and scroll some more, it won't be long before you can't scroll any more even though you are no where near the end of the document. The only way to overcome this is to left click with the mouse and drag the page a little in either direction. Then you can return to using your keyboard for scrolling.

It seems like the drawing context is lost and the focus is set to some hidden window. Left clicking on the drawing context manually causes the focus to come back and hence the keyboard continues to work again.

I do believe you are mistaken. It was in an open beta for some time, then I guess Adobe must have had enough testers so the beta was officially closed (to the public that is). That was in January IIRC. But as of this month, it is version 7.0.0 final, and available to everyone and anyone.

My build says 7.0.0 03/11/2005 and it is no beta version. It is, however, interesting that if you try to download the linux version off the main site it defaults to the old version. Maybe eventhough it is not a beta version, only making it available via ftp at this stage allows them to maintain some level of 'testing' before unleashing it on the wider public. Who knows.
