AD samba and win 2k3

I have a samba server that was working fine prior to the user joining ad (the samba box is not a member and cannot become a member for file transfer reasons). but now when I go to browse the samba box it asks for login and pass (like usual), but will not take the login. I have tried two different accounts both root and several different computers (all members of the domain). The only thing i can tell is the authentication type has changed but I'm not sure what it needs to be.
