Acrobat won't print (ML-1710, LLPR & Mozilla)

I have a Samsung ML-1710 laser printer. I used the LLPR package provided by Samsung which provides a graphical interface to the printer. I prefer to remain with this package since it allows me to fit multiple pages on one sheet of paper, adjust the economy settings etc.

Until recently, everything worked fine -- printing from raw text, Mozilla 1.7.2, OpenOffice 1.2 and Acrobat 5 in Mozilla. CUPS 1.1.20 is my printing system.

When I print a text or html document, the LLPR dialogue box opens and everything procedes correctly.

However, when I try to print a PDF through Acrobat, nothing happens. Here's the commands that I enter in the "Printer Command" field and their results:

/usr/bin/lpr
Mozilla says printing pages... then nothing.

/usr/bin/lp
Mozilla says printing pages... Acrobat Reader displays the message "request id is lp-51 (1 file(s))", I click on "OK", then nothing.

/usr/bin/llpr
Mozilla says printing pages... llpr dialogue box opens, points to printer name "lp", Acrobat Reader displays the message "request id is lp-52 (1 file(s))", then nothing.

The same thing when I launch Acrobat Reader separately and try to print a PDF.

I can print PDF files from KPDF (I use KDE) without a problem, except that the speed, fonts and page layout are horrible. Basically, I really need to make Acrobat work again.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Try kprinter or xpp or /usr/bin/lpr-xpp. Good luck!
