Acidrip does not show xvid as an option

I installed acidrip today for ripping dvds. (finnaly a dvd backup solution that works on my machine short of learning the lexicon of mencoder commandline optins )

It all works great and i am please with the program, however the list of codecs to choose from for encoding does not include xvid, which is the format i would like to use.

At first i was not sure if i had xvid installed at all, so i downloaded the source from xvid.org, built and installed it, but still it is not showing up in the list of codec options that acidrip has.

any ideas on how i can get acidrip to work with xvid?

thanks in advance

If you installed it after compiling acidrip, you'll probably need to recompile mplayer and acidrip so the codec is picked up.

xvid needs to be specifically enabled in the configuration during the mplayer compile - it's not on by default, since it's not needed to play back files encoded with xvid.
