Abiword Scrolling slow, even after FAQ fix

I love abiword but this laggy scrolling is driving me nuts. The FAQ solution did nothing. The custom section of Abiword.Profile looks like this:
Code:
<Scheme
		name="_custom_"
		ZoomType="100"
		RulerUnits="cm"
		AutoSaveFile="1"
		EnableSmoothScrolling="0"
		ExtraBarVisible="1"
		/>
Is there some trick to editing xml? I used leafpad.

There is a EnableSmoothScrolling="1" entry in the builtin section at the top of the file, but when I set it to 0 it just resets itself.

Thanks very much! I recently got printing working, audio, consistent Chinese fonts, 'open with' working in pcmanfm, and some other things, this is actually my last niggling issue. For now...

Question Slow AbiWord

I've got a few questions about that,
  1. Does the cpu/ram usage spike when abiword is scrolling?
  2. What video drivers are you using? Are there other video malfunctions?
  3. Does it lag when using the keyboard+mouse wheel+scrollbar?
  4. Is the page you're typing particularly media rich? (Pictures, clip art, tables)
  5. Does the xterm, gnome terminal, etc also have scrolling issues?
  6. Have you tried using other fonts/languages? (A past experience required me to use a more simple font because the one I selected (for symbols) was behaving strangely due to a character encoding bug, but that was a long time ago and that was with microsoft works.)

1. CPU seems constant, music playing doesn't stutter or anything else.
2. I'm using openchrome. No other video problems whatsoever
3. Both slow. Clicking a full screen-hight ahead is quick. It seems to me like it is still smoothscrolling despite my settings. It'll kind of streak the letters as it goes, if you get me, doesn't just jump down a line per click.
4. It could be a page of just carriage returns, still laggy.
5. No other scrolling issues in any program, Chromium, xterm, nothing.
6. The few fonts I have used show no difference.

Thanks for the interest!
