64 bit java


can someone tell me how to install suns 64 bit version of the jre. i cant seem to get it to work. do you have to do soemthing special that you dont do for the 32 bit version because ive installed that tons of times and it worked. btw im trying to install it for Firefox 1.0

It's exactly the same. After downloading it, change the permission so you can execute it. Then just run it the way you would with the 32bit... After that, link the plugins for firefox to wherever you install java!

What exactly did you do? I have no idea when you said "no dice" because it's hard to figure out what was wrong when you wouldn't describe the steps.

i gave it the execute permission
then i extract it
the i symlinked the libjava.so or whatever its called plugin to /usr/lib64/firefox-1.0/plugins.
