2.6.4 floppy boot problems

Hi,
Guys I am booting into the 2.64. kernel us ing the boot floopy (RH9). When I do u name it shows me version of the previous kernel. TheI made a new boot floppy form the previos floppy as follows:

ORIGINAL CONFIG
boot.msg initrd.img ldlinux.sys syslinux.cfg vmlinuz

NEW CONFIG
boot.msg ldlinux.sys syslinux.cfg vmlinuz

NOTE: the vmlinuz in the new floppy is the new kernel.
When I booted with the new floppy I tyed in vmlinuz as the argument and it would boot fine.

Then this config did not work fine because for some reaosn it could not the linux kernel right.

LATEST CONFIG
Just put vmlinuz on the floppy

This is not workin because it crashes when uncompressing the linux kernel.

if you have your old floppy, boot to the old kernal and run grub bootloader and set the parameters there. I think the command is grub-install /dev/hda' or something like that. I have 2.4.20-8 I got with redhat 9 and I have 2.6.2 kernal that I compiled. I can boot thru to each one of them. Might be easier with the boot record on hard disk. I still have a lot of problems with 2.6.2 When you compile the kernal you need to put ramdisk support in the kernal not as a loading module. otherwise you get initrd errors . Hope I have helped. I still have no sound /an oss error of some sorts and my iptables are wacked. Everything in time. 2.6.2 is a tough kernal changed a lot of things.
