[Unsolved/Abandoned] OBS Studio - Invalid license file data
Hi.
A few days ago I stumbled over a review of the 9 best Screencast tools in 2019. One of them listed was OBS Studio, which is available in the repository of Ubuntu Bionic.
I downloaded and tried to run it, but there's an error message appearing:
Invalid license file data
( Yes, it is the exact exact message )
I searched the web already, but couldn't find anything on that issue.
Any hints or help here?
Thanks in advance...

Reason: Abandoning the project

I don't have apt-get and the installation instructions are for Ubuntu 14 (Tahr) & Ubuntu 15 (Xenial?). I'm in Puppy Ubuntu 18 (Bionic). Also I tested: the OBS Package is not found in Puppy Ubuntu 14 (Tahr). So these installation instructions are useless.
The first post only said Ubuntu Bionic...not Puppy. They're different, as you've discovered. Since Puppy isn't listed as part of their supported OS'es, not sure if it will even work at all. You may want to contact OBS, since that message isn't really a Linux message, but from OBS. Their people may know a way around it. There are also build instructions, which may be what you have to do. https://github.com/obsproject/obs-st...de-all-distros

No, I didn't discover. I know this for already more than eight years - as I'm a full time Puppy User since 2011 started using Puppy (Muppy 008.3F) in 2009.
But: since Puppy Ubuntu Bionic (better saying my Art Studio 64) is made from the binaries of Ubuntu Bionic usually almost all the programs downloaded so far do work out of the box. Some of them needed to download some additional dependencies not covered by the PPM. I got also Kdenlive running AND working as well as Openshot in my Art Studio 64, I was just curious if OBS Studio would work also.
The article/review of OBS Studio I found was somehow impressive, so I would liked to test OBS Studio.
Never mind: my LazY Puppy Art Studio 64 (as well as my private 32bit version) has Simple Screen Recorder installed, which does a pretty good job (as one can see on my Youtube Channel and the two GNU/Linux Videos - link in my signature).
I don't want to waste some more time on OBS Studio, as I don't really have an urgent need for it. I'll mark this thread as Unsolved/Abandoned.
Thanks for all the replies, though.
Btw.: this forum is really slow. It sometimes hangs for minutes when trying to preview a post in creation.
