[RHEL5/CentOS5 ] Why config file in /etc/sysconfig/tomcat5?

On RHEL5/CentOS5:

Can someone please enlighten me, why there is a /etc/tomcat5/tomcat5.conf that gets ignored and a /etc/sysconfig/tomcat5.conf?

This always puzzles me and I really want to understand, why there are two config files in place...

sysconfig config files are used to set attributes for a server, like the user to use, command line options for the daemon. These are used by the redhat / centos init scripts in /etc/init.d etc. The one under tomcat5 itself would be it's own configuration and control how tomcat works internally.
